Kyoto Prize to Simon Levin

Simon Levin, professor of ecology at Princeton University and long-time director of ICTP mathematical ecology courses and workshops who has been visiting ICTP since 1982, has been awarded the 2005 Kyoto Prize in basic sciences in recognition of his outstanding achievements. The Kyoto Prize is awarded by the Inamori Foundation. It carries a US$465,000 cash prize.
